KNOW TECHNOLOGY'S EXECUTIVE SUMMIT "INFORMATION - YOUR
ASSET" WAS A SUCCESS
57 people met, shared ideas, had an energetic give-and-take
with six high profile Maine-centric executives who were gracious
enough to offer to be panelists, and we all learned.
The discussions ranged from the planned topics of:
* Enabling foundation - fostering an efficient, reliable and secure IT infrastructure,
reducing risk and cost, and providing
anytime, anywhere accessibility.
* Business-essential information and the challenges of managing
the information life cycle, search, collection, creation, leverage,
and retention of information.
* People effectiveness and optimizing operations and seamlessly
communicating, coordinating, and collaborating.
And the discussion expanded into:
* the emerging technology trends and what's
driving - and pacing - the introduction of that technology,
* the role of IT within an organization and how to better position
that role with executive management,
* approaches to recruit and retain good talent, the pros/cons/practical
necessities of outsourcing,
* the factors/importance/challenges regarding information security, and
* ways to address the needs for robust infrastructure services.
The feedback right after the meeting as well as the many emails
we've received have been positive with a majority encouraging
us to do more. Equally important is the clear guidance we received
regarding the priorities of what's important to the Maine IT
community.
Know Technology will be conducting follow-on Information
Sessions that will focus on Enabling foundation, Business-essential
information,
and People effectiveness. Each session will be comprised of
three parts: a managers' overview, a luncheon, and a learning
lab. Presentations will be made by Subject Matter Experts from APC,
Gilchrist Scott, HP, Microsoft, Oxford Networks, and Know Technology.
Dates and locations for these events are TBD.
